Craft Rediscovered

Ishikawa Prefecture has a rich history and one where traditional Japanese culture is still very much alive and part of daily life. This strong culture dates back to the Edo period where the Maeda clan used their wealth to promote culture and education. In this "Kingdom of Crafts", there are 36 different type of crafts including gold leaf, lacquerware and silk dyeing, many of which are still made using techniques that have been handed down through the generations.

Working in conjunction with the Ishikawa Prefectural Government of Japan, some of these crafts are showcased and they include products from various companies based in Kanazawa, Wajima and Yamanaka.
